The Balanced Hoof

with Cheryl Gibson and James Simpson

Saturday November 6, 2010 TBC- (10 am to 5:30 pm)

There is much conflicting information and many new fads out there today related to hoof care. This workshop does not address the barefoot/shod discussion but instead will give you information that will help you decide what is best for your horse.

James Simpson (farrier, international judge) and Cheryl Gibson (equine therapist) have worked together for over 25 years formulating a common sense, successful approach for producing balance for the horse's body.

This intense full day workshop will introduce you to one of the most important factors for your horse's success and well being: how to recognize and achieve hooves balanced properly in relation to the entire horse's body. You will learn how the foot can be measured and trimmed to provide a balanced base for the musculo/skeletal structure of the horse , which also helps provide better joint function and support.

Lecture, video, slides and demonstration will address various aspects of what a balanced foot is and how to achieve it. This information will also assist veterinarians with X-ray diagnosis of such syndromes as navicular, laminitis and founder by giving them a "norm" from which to assess the abnormal. You will also learn how to apply laminitis "first aid".

Hands-on participation for attendees.

This workshop also constitutes part of the Equi-Bow Canada program.

This workshop does not qualify participants to act as consultants for, or to do hoof balancing as a profession.
